Elegant Art Deco pendant light with an opal glass shade and floral decoration – ca. 1920–1935

A particularly atmospheric Art Deco pendant light from the interwar period, executed with a stunning opal glass shade and original brass fittings. This lamp perfectly reflects the refined transition from late Art Nouveau to the elegant lines of the Art Deco era.

The shade is made of milky white opal glass with a soft, warm light diffusion. The gently wavy edge and the subtly faceted形 form give the lamp an elegant look that is characteristic of lighting from the 1920s–1930s. Around the shade are hand-painted floral motifs in warm shades of red, orange, green and gold. This type of decoration was widely applied to glassware in the early 20th century to give lighting a decorative and homey character.

The shade is held by a classically shaped brass suspension with characteristic clamping knobs. This construction was commonly used at the time to securely fix glass shades. The patina of the metal emphasizes the authentic age of the fixture and gives the lamp a charming, timeless appearance.

When the lamp is lit, the opal glass spreads a soft diffuse light, while the floral decoration subtly lights up. This creates a warm, intimate atmosphere, ideal above a dining table, in a hall, or as a characterful focal point in a vintage or classic interior.
