Antique hand‑made slingerglas from the Netherlands, dating to 1700–1750, with a height of 12 cm, a diameter of 6.5 cm and a width of 5 cm in clear glass featuring a fully hand‑applied slingermotif; condition is used with possible missing small parts and two chips on the foot.
Description from the seller
A beautiful handmade swirled glass from the 17th or 18th century, a splendid example of craftsmanship from a bygone era. This glass is not just a drinking vessel, but a small work of art in which centuries-old artisanal techniques are visible.
There are currently several glasses available with combined shipping.
The decorative swirled motif is completely applied by hand: melted glass was spun into graceful strands over the head glass, giving each piece a unique pattern. No two glasses are the same—the small variations in thickness and twisting make this glass an exclusive collectible.
In its time, a swirled glass was a status symbol, often used at special occasions in wealthier households. It combined functionality with refined aesthetics and still radiates that same elegance. Sometimes subtle colors were added or clear glass was used, allowing the light to play enchantingly through the motif.
The technique of swirled glass is related to Venetian traditions such as chevron and filigrana, showing that knowledge and style among glassmakers circulated across Europe. Today, original 17th- and 18th-century swirled glasses are rare and highly sought after by collectors, not only for their beauty but also for their historical value and exceptional handwork.
A special opportunity to add a piece of history and refinement to your collection.
2 chips on the foot.
