Antique hand-made slingerglas in glass, from the Netherlands, dating to 1700–1750, measuring 14 cm high, 5 cm wide and 6.8 cm in diameter, in used condition with two chips on the foot, featuring a fully hand-applied decorative slingermotif.
Description from the seller
a beautiful handmade slingerglas from the 17th or 18th century, a splendid example of craftsmanship from a bygone era. This glass is not just a drinking vessel, but a small work of art in which centuries-old artisanal techniques are visible.
There are currently several glasses available with combined shipping.
The decorative sling motif is applied entirely by hand: molten glass was spun into graceful strands over the main glass, giving each piece a unique pattern. No two glasses are the same – the slight variations in thickness and twist make this glass an exclusive collectible.
In its time, a slingerglas was a status symbol, often used at special occasions in wealthier households. It combined functionality with refined aesthetics and still radiates that same elegance. Sometimes subtle colors were added or clear glass was used, causing the light to play through the motif in a mesmerizing way.
The slingerglas technique is related to Venetian traditions such as chevron and filigrana, illustrating how knowledge and style among glass masters were exchanged across Europe. Today, original 17th- and 18th-century slingerglases are rare and highly sought after by collectors, not only for their beauty but also for their historical value and exceptional craftsmanship.
A special opportunity to add a piece of history and refinement to your collection.
