Lot description.
Work, part of the series: “Viento en popa…” where I blend abstract style with the composition of marine themes. A formal investigation that seeks atmospheres and compositions that allow me to combine gestural experimentation with realistic detail, uncovering a more evocative and encompassing pictorial experience.
About the artist.
Multimedia artist, sculptor, painter, photographer, and video creator.
Graduate of the Instituto Superior de Arte (Course 2002-2007).
He has held nearly twenty solo exhibitions — both in Cuba and abroad — and has participated in more than fifty group exhibitions in various parts of the world, as well as international video-creation festivals, as well as monumental sculpture symposia in China and Cuba.
He has been invited on two occasions to join the main curatorship of the Havana Biennial. During his career he has received several awards and recognitions, among them the most important distinction awarded by his hometown to a visual artist, the Fidelio Ponce de León distinction (2017).
He has lectured in China, Buenos Aires, and at several universities in the United States such as the School of Visual Arts in New York (SVA-NY), Carnegie Mellon University, and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, as well as Montclair State University in New Jersey.
Some of his works are already part of private and/or institutional collections in Cuba and abroad. He is part of the Ignacio Agramonte Museum Collection, Camagüey, Cuba. Credicop Collection, Buenos Aires, Argentina. Collection in the Changchun City Park sculpture park, China. Collection in the Guilin City Park sculpture park, China.
