Artist Statement Brief
My painting practice focuses on the deconstruction of the figurative portrait as a means to explore contemporary identity and inner psychological states. Through an intense and material use of oil impasto, challenging the conventional perception of the human form, fragmenting and distorting the face to reveal hidden vulnerabilities and complexities. In my works, flesh and emotion merge with the surface of the paint itself. The contrast I sometimes integrate between the crude materiality of the face and the more graphic or defined elements, such as accessories or clothing, serves to highlight the tension between perceived order and inner chaos. I strive to capture the fluid essence of a subject that is in a constant state of change, navigating between the crude materiality of painting and the ephemeral order of form.
I am a modern artist and contemporary painter, born January 12, 1979 in Maratea (PZ) and currently living in Sapri (SA).
After obtaining scientific high school diploma, I pursued studies in Computer Science, but soon I rediscovered and cultivated my true passion: painting, which has accompanied me since I was a child.
