This is an Izumo-yaki tea bowl with brushstroke finish by Nagaoka Kūgon 11th generation.
Irabo glaze is used which characterised by its coarse clay, which contains sand and stone rich in iron, resulting in a bumpy surface on the vessel. It possesses a wabi-sabi aesthetic and a rustic glaze finish.
Comes with original box with the artist signature

Diameter: 14.5 cm
Height: 7.5 cm

About the Artist: Nagaoka Kugon (1929–2021)
He was the 11th-generation Nagaoka Jūemon of the traditional Rakuzan-yaki (Izumo-yaki) pottery tradition in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture, and a holder of Shimane Prefecture’s Designated Intangible Cultural Property.
