Description from the seller
KOI STORIES 2
Original painting, part of a series about the tranquil life in ponds, small pools of water with plants, water lilies, fish and other creatures. Painted in oil on raw linen with a transparent primer.
The red fish and koi carp I paint float lightly with their sinuous and elegant movements. The fish as a universal archetypal element, as a link between diverse worlds, as an expression of life flowing. Fast and fleeting like clouds and thoughts, they embody the delicate balance between serenity and the vital impulse. The pond water is only suggested.
I am interested in the boundary between the real world and the surreal world of my constantly transforming aquatic landscapes. www.valeriapesce.com

ABOUT ME
Born in Italy, on the island of Sardinia, in 1963, after stints in New York to study graphic design and then in Milan for 2 years, I moved to Barcelona in 1991 to work as a graphic designer and here I began my artistic career which over time has become my profession, my passion and above all a vital need.
I have held solo and group exhibitions in several European cities and my works are in various private collections around the world.
My work is deeply rooted in nature and human emotions; my star theme is water and fish, two visual universes that share intense symbolic meaning. The fascination with the fluidity and dynamism of water acts as the through-line of my creations and symbolizes constant transformation.
