Beautiful vintage pull-out sewing box or jewelry box in a classic Oriental style, probably Japanese-inspired. The piece is finished in black lacquer with hand-painted decorations of a traditional Asian landscape, including, among other elements, a pagoda, trees and mountain scenery.
The box is equipped with a metal accordion mechanism allowing the compartments to open in steps. In the unfolded state, it provides a clear layout with multiple compartments, typical of mid-century sewing boxes.
