About the artist:
*María José Fernández (Otura, Granada, 1985) is an Andalusian painter specializing in landscapes that convey calm and a connection with nature. She lives in La Quintería (Jaén), where she draws inspiration from southern light, the quiet of the countryside, and family life. Her first contact with oil painting was at 17, and since then she has developed a self-taught and deeply personal career.
Her figurative work is characterized by serene atmospheres, reflections on water, and golden skies that invite contemplation. She also works in small abstract series where she explores sensations, colors, and forms inspired by the earth and the sea. Each of her pieces is hand-painted, with the aim of harmonizing with spaces and evoking emotions in those who view them.
She has participated in solo and group exhibitions, such as at the Federico García Lorca Cultural Center (2017), Artes Jomasa (2019), and the Mundoarti Virtual Museum (2021).
