Description from the seller
Title: Dittico del silenzio
Work 1: Studio Cena di Emmaus
Work 2: Ritratto
Technique: oil on canvas
Dimensions: 60x50 cm
Year: 2022 - 2025
Dittico del silenzio brings together two autonomous yet deeply allied works, linked by a shared inner tension and a pictorial exploration focused on human presence, contemplation, and emotional suspension.
One of the two works arises from a study of the face of Christ drawn from Caravaggio's Supper at Emmaus. The reference is not used in a citational or illustrative key, but reworked in an intimate, personal way: what emerges is not the narration of the Evangelical episode, but its more gathered and meditative dimension. The lowered face, bathed in warm light against a vibrant background, preserves the sense of mystery and interiority characteristic of the great painting tradition, yet translated into a contemporary sensibility.
The second work, with its frontal, steady gaze, introduces a different but complementary presence. The sky in the background expands the perception of inner space, while the stillness of the face conveys a sense of calm, waiting, and focus.
