AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

RUNAWAY is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado inspired by the irresistible urge to escape into the unknown. The work celebrates adventurous spirit, freedom of movement, and the thrill that arises when the horizon becomes a permanent invitation to keep going.

The composition shows a woman driving a red convertible along a road that crosses wide mountainous landscapes. The road stretches out until it disappears in the distance, while the open sky and monumental clouds reinforce the sense of breadth and possibility. The protagonist observes the landscape with serenity, as if she had decided to leave behind everything that held her back.

The artist uses a luminous palette of intense blues, vibrant reds, sandy tones, and deep blacks. This combination creates an optimistic and dynamic atmosphere that recalls the great roadside and tourism posters of mid-20th century. The simplified shapes and bold contours give the scene an immediate and timeless graphic strength.

Beyond the image of travel, RUNAWAY explores the human need to reinvent oneself. The car symbolizes the ability to choose one’s own path, while the road represents the opportunities, changes, and discoveries that appear when one decides to leave the comfort zone. The work is not about fleeing out of fear, but about setting off driven by curiosity and the desire to live new experiences.

The mountains that dominate the horizon act as a reminder of the challenges that inevitably accompany any adventure. However, rather than being threatening, they appear as a promise of growth and discovery. The landscape thus becomes a stage of infinite possibilities.

With an aesthetic inspired by travel culture, freedom, and the optimism of the open road, RUNAWAY conveys a powerful sense of independence and movement. The work invites the viewer to remember those moments when a simple change of direction was enough to open up a completely new world.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
