Imperial Russian Silver Cigarette Case (84 Zolotnik), Moscow, after 1908
A finely crafted Russian silver cigarette case made in 84 zolotnik silver (.875) and decorated with a deeply sculpted repoussé narrative scene on the lid.
The composition shows three figures interacting across a wooden fence, executed with expressive detail and strong relief.
The emotional intensity and gestures are reminiscent of biblical or moralizing scenes, a theme frequently used in early‑20th‑century Russian silverwork.
The interior lid repeats the same repoussé scene in crisp detail.
The case closes with its original red cabochon push‑button clasp.
The interior retains traces of its original gilding.
