Antique Portrait Duo – C.J.L. Vermeulen (Hoffotograaf) – Original Frames

Description:
For sale: a wonderful pair of historical portrait photos (man and woman) of museum quality, produced by the famous Dutch court photographer C.J.L. Vermeulen (1861–1936). Vermeulen was the court photographer to the Royal Household and one of the most prominent photographers of his time. His work is highly valued by collectors of classical photography and Dutch history.

Unique features:

Authentic provenance: the portrait of the man bears on the back the original seal of the photographer with historical addresses in The Hague (Lange Poten 23 and Toussaintkade 11), and branches in Rotterdam (Coolsingel) and Utrecht.

Original frames: the photos are framed in heavy, black polished frames with an elegant gold pearl edge, from Vermeulen's own Frame Factory at Bilderdijkstraat 35-41 in The Hague. These handmade frames give the duo an authentic, classic look and complete it as a historical object.

The photos remain sharp and clear. The frames are in good antique condition, with corner damage, a few scratches and stains as visible in the photos. The woman has some mold on the back.

Why it is special:
This set combines historical photography by a top photographer with original, high-quality frames, making it a rare collectible for lovers of classic portraits, Hague history, or refined interiors.
