Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in the specialty of artistic cabinetmaking at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. At this school he first encountered disciplines such as carving, drawing, and modeling, and, most importantly, the experience of working in the workshop.
Later he enrolled in the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what would later become his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school that he began to work with materials that would be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallel, Porto continued his training informally and researched other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes, leaning toward bronze and steel as the definitive materials for his works.
After this initial training phase, he decided to set up his studio on the banks of the Sarela river, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical investigation of the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the usual tone of his works, providing complexity and depth to the whole of his output, with themes touching both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
