Xandro Peña - Gladiolos

Xandro Peña, an artist born in Cuba who currently resides and works in Madrid.

Gladiolos belongs to a series of works in which I explore contemporary floral composition where organic, overlapping forms build a delicate balance between abstraction and representation. The vibrant palette of oranges, greens, and deep blues creates a luminous and dynamic atmosphere, while the transparencies add depth, visual rhythm, and a sense of enveloping movement.

Although his artistic practice is primarily oriented toward painting, he maintains a constant relationship with printmaking and digital media, both conceptually and aesthetically. His work investigates color, rhythm, and structure, establishing a dialogue with contemporary abstraction and new ways of assimilating painting.
He has undertaken several artistic residencies in Spain and Portugal, experiences that have contributed to expanding his formal research and international projection.
Among his main references are Sean Scully, Bernard Frize, Brice Marden, Raoul De Keyser, Patricia Treib, and Sarah Crowner.

His work is held in private collections in the United States, Mexico, Germany, France, Spain, and Sweden.
