Biography:
Kobalt, born in Paris in 1970, embodies the journey of a polymorphic artist whose creativity has expanded from electronic music to contemporary graphic art. Coming from a family where art was already present through his father, a draftman, Kobalt discovers at a very young age his first passion: musical creation. This passion guides him in his youth, and his early talents lead him to make a bold decision: to invest the money destined to fund his higher education into creating his first album. Distributed by EMI, the album does not achieve the expected success, but it marks the beginning of a richly experimental artistic career.
Parallel to his musical career, Kobalt enters the advertising world as a copywriter/designer for the iconic magazine Playboy. For many years, he brings his creativity to the publication by creating and producing the magazine’s advertising campaigns.
The turning point in his career comes in 2005 when he becomes a cinematographer, thus exploring a new facet of the visual world. In 2007, he discovers a passion for photography, adding yet another artistic string to his bow. In 2010, he successfully founds his own photography agency, highlighting his entrepreneurial spirit.
In 2017, Kobalt makes a radical choice to sell his agency to fully embrace graphic art, influenced by his son, who has become a major figure in world street art. A pioneer of computer-assisted artistic creation, Kobalt stands out with nearly 3000 works sold in galleries and online to date.
His artistic approach is marked by bold use of humor, provocation, and anachronisms, with a particular fondness for reworking magazine covers, a style that makes him instantly recognizable.
Despite the digital era, Kobalt has chosen to stay away from social networks, preserving a certain privacy. Today, he uses all available digital tools to bring his creations to life, continuing to push the boundaries of artistic expression with a subtle blend of inspiration, innovation, and humor.
