Description from the seller
Pair of Indian wooden animal figures – leopards / lions – hand-carved – 20th century
Beautiful pair of hand-carved wooden animal figures from India, executed in a strong and stylized design.
The figures presumably depict leopards or lions, traditional symbols of strength, protection and leadership within various Indian cultures. The animals are shown with an open mouth, robust body shapes and elegantly curled tails, creating an expressive and decorative appearance.
The wood has developed a beautiful dark patina over the years, which enhances the authentic character of the sculptures. The figures are clearly made as a pair and form a harmonious whole.
Thanks to their sculptural form, these figures are not only interesting for collectors of African art and ethnography, but also particularly suitable as decorative objects in a modern or classical interior.
