A highly impactful decorative example, the frame features a rectangular structure characterized by a sumptuous and deep openwork carving of exquisitely baroque taste.

The outer perimeter band is masterfully pierced with a continuous motif of opposing foliate volutes and twisted acanthus scrolls, which rhythmically mark the sides, connecting at the four corners where they culminate in palmettes or expanded angular leaves of geometric flavor. The inner profile of the moulding, clearly separated from the decorative fretwork, is punctuated by a classic motif of a continuous ribbon or linked stems (faux raised ribbon), which lends architectural rigor to the piece, balancing the exuberant dynamism of the outer carving.

The back of the piece highlights the typical hand gouge work in solid wood, with partial gilding that turns up along the inner and outer edges as a testament to the object's authenticity and period.
