Description from the seller
Joaquim Pancho is a Portuguese painter who works mainly in oil and watercolor, exploring coastal landscapes, urban scenes, and intimate interiors with a strong focus on light, atmosphere, and the memory of places. His painting blends observation and poetic sensitivity, creating serene, elegant, and emotionally engaging works.
Born in Angola, in 1970, in the city of Luanda, he came to Portugal with his parents at age 5, currently residing in Cascais.
Self-taught from a young age, he has always shown aptitude for the plastic arts, his painting inspired by 19th-century Impressionism, with reference to the works of Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Alfred Sisley, Renoir, as well as Joseph Zbukvic, Alvaro Castagnet, Herman Pekel, and Amanda Hyatt.
It was in the city of Aveiro that he became interested in watercolor, having attended training classes in the technique at the Gulbenkian Foundation and later in oil painting.
He is presently active, seeking in his works to capture the beauty, light, and harmony both in landscapes and figurative subjects, with several solo and group exhibitions at national and international levels.
