Medsan's Kintsugi Shogun, 2026, a 40 × 40 cm giclée mounted on a wooden tray, is a unique 1/1 edition in excellent condition, hand-signed and depicting a cobalt-blue pop art samurai inspired by blue-and-white porcelain.
Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this square-format work, Medsan conducts a very elegant mashup, merging the noble figure of the samurai with the ancestral art of blue and white Japanese porcelain and the philosophy of kintsugi. The warrior, helmeted with his kabuto and clad in armor, is entirely rendered in cobalt blue tones on a cracked porcelain surface, whose fissures are sublimated by fine veins of gold. This unique print conjures the whole imagination of the great Arita and Imari kilns, cradles of under-glaze blue enamel (sometsuke).
The strength of the composition lies in its material illusion: a true Trompe-l'œil of enameled porcelain. The drawing, of remarkable finesse, imitates the brushwork of cobalt oxide — chrysanthemum motifs, stylized waves and dragons adorning the armor and the unfurled fan — enhanced with a few touches of iron red. Across the whole runs the network of crazing, the most pronounced cracks being repaired with gold, according to the kintsugi technique that “repairs with gold” rather than concealing the break.
The impact of the piece lies in the depth of its symbolism: these golden lines that fracture and then reunite the portrait turn every scar into an adornment. Kintsugi, an expression of the Wabi-sabi sensibility, celebrates the beauty of imperfection and the memory of the trials endured. The samurai, with an imperious gaze, thus becomes the allegory of precious resilience: not a broken being, but a being made rarer by its wounds.
A piece that is noble, decorative and conceptual, anchored in ancestral Japan and bearing a universal philosophy. Ideal for bringing a refined, gold-edged and deeply contemplative touch to a design and collector’s interior.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a studio gathering artists around a living, plural contemporary creation. Set up as a true site of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and individual approaches, depending on the projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a figurative contemporary painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realist influences. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive pursuit, blending abstract art, naive art and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
