Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this vertically formatted artwork, Medsan brings the Pokémon universe into an epic, dramatic dimension, merging the legendary Mewtwo with kaiju cinema codes and the aesthetics of Japanese prints. Colossal, the most mythical psychic Pokémon dominates a traditional village reduced to ruins under a nocturnal storm: lightning tears across the sky, rain pours in tight curtains, neon signs of the pachinko parlors glisten in the darkness while Tokyo Tower looms in the distance. This singular splash carries the signature “メドサン” (Medsan) in a cartouche.
The visual strength of the composition lies in its ukiyo-e-inspired treatment: bold linework, a spectacular stormy sky, and diagonal rain evoking Hiroshige’s famous downpour scenes, enhanced with neon vaporwave accents. The framing — the giant creature towering over the devastated city — directly cites Godzilla and the entire tradition of Toho monster films, a true pillar of Japanese pop culture.
The impact of the work rests on its electric tension: Mewtwo, an artificial being born of genetic manipulation, radiates threat from its incandescent violet eyes and its psychic aura, transforming into a vengeance-seeking deity, a pure force of nature. The central question is this dialogue between the endearing myth of the Pokémon and its apocalyptic kaiju power.
A cinematic, electric, immersive piece, ideal for adding a spectacular, dark, and decidedly contemporary touch to a collector’s interior — a favorite for lovers of both Japanese culture and pop culture.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a studio of artists gathered around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a true production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive inquiry, blending abstract art, raw art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and followed within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity of its own for each artist.
