Description from the seller
THERE IS ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this vertically formatted work, Medsan orchestrates a spectacular crossover, pitting two giants of pop culture from opposite shores against each other: the Dark Knight, Batman (DC Comics), and the colossal kaiju Godzilla (Toho studio). On a wind-swept hill, the solitary vigilante, cape fluttering and seen from behind, faces the titanic beast that roars up in a blast of smoke and debris. This single splash freezes the suspended moment just before the clash.
The visual impact of the composition lies in its comic-book/graphic-novel illustration language: precise inking, vintage print textures, and a muted pastel palette evoking old silkscreen covers. The whorls of smoke, stylized into broad spirals, nod to the Japanese print tradition. The monster, bristling with horns and sharp dorsal fins, unmistakably places itself in the Godzilla lineage—king of the kaijū.
The work’s impact rests on the confrontation of two myths: the Western superhero and the Japanese monster, human will facing the elemental colossus. The solitary figure against the vastness — this Rückenfigur — invites the viewer to step into Batman’s shoes, in the grand tradition of the sublime: tiny, determined, facing what exceeds him. A cinematic clash of scales and cultures.
An epic, cinematic, and graphic piece, ideal for adding a spectacular, dark, and decidedly contemporary touch to a collector’s interior — a favorite among comics lovers as well as monster movie fans.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a living, plural contemporary creation. Established as a genuine artistic production space, the studio operates both in collaborative creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Alongside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography, and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive search, blending abstract art, naïve art, and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created, and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and a unique identity for each artist.
