Description from the seller
There Is Only One in the World - Edition 1/1
With this original work, entirely hand-painted, Medsan crafts a poetic reverie around image and reality. A traveler in a kimono and straw hat, seen from behind on a wooden bridge, holds in his hand a print depicting Mount Fuji — while in front of him the “real” Fuji floats in the air, detached from the ground and seemingly inverted, in a sky of swirling painted shapes. Below, a peaceful village comes to life: laundry drying, children chasing a dog, thatched-roof houses. A unique piece, a meditation on the art of looking.
The visual impact of the composition lies in its mixed technique: broad, vibrant acrylic washes for the sky and fields combine with a meticulous ink work for the mountain, the village and the characters, in the manner of ukiyo-e prints. The homage to Hokusai and his famous Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji is evident, while the floating and inverted mountain — a nod to the famous sakasa-Fuji, the reflected Fuji — injects a dreamlike and surreal note, in the spirit of René Magritte’s inquiries into representation.
The work’s impact rests on this vertigo: the traveler comparing the paper Fuji to the impossible Fuji suspended in the sky stages a reflection on perception and the gap between image and reality. The piece oscillates between homage to classic Japan and surreal game, between map and territory.
A poetic, refined and profoundly original work, entirely handmade, ideal for bringing a contemplative and elegant touch to a designer interior or a collector’s space.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists gathered around a living and plural contemporary creation. Established as a true place of artistic production, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family venture. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. By his side, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo pursues a more instinctive enquiry, blending abstract art, outsider art and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, created and monitored within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity unique to each artist.
