"Being optimistic by nature, I am sure that one day our works will be widely exhibited in Russia." Evgeny Rukhin
Description and activity of the painter from the AZ Museum in Moscow website.
"Evgeny Rukhin was an artist whose works were exhibited in Leningrad youth circles starting from the mid-1960s. In 1966 he held his first solo exhibition in New York. The artist was among the organizers of the Bulldozer Exhibition and the Izmailovo Exhibition in Moscow in 1974. The main theme of Rukhin's art is the substance of the refuse of civilization, discarded objects in a dump and now devoid of utility. His works initiated a new cycle in the art world, foreshadowing the Pop Art movement. After his death, dozens of exhibitions of the artist have been held in Europe, the United States, Japan, and Israel, and in 1996 a solo show was dedicated to him in Saint Petersburg."
