Leon Rysa, Hornbill, an original oil painting (2025) measuring 70 cm by 50 cm, hand signed, in excellent condition, depicting animals; sold direct from the artist.
Description from the seller
A majestic hornbill dominates this oil painting, perched on a sturdy branch. Its striking black and white plumage contrasts with the prominent, pale casque and beak, detailed with subtle grey markings. The bird's alert gaze is directed upwards. Warm, earthy tones in the background create a soft, diffused setting, allowing the intricate textures of feathers and bark to emerge with vivid clarity.
The painting does not require framing – the sides of the canvas have been aesthetically painted in the background color, allowing for direct mounting on the wall and giving the artwork a modern look.
To all countries, all paintings are shipped in a large cardboard box.
Leon Rysa is a Polish painter whose evocative work is defined by a deep fascination with animal anatomy, psychology, and avian nature. A postgraduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz (Poland), specializing in drawing and painting, he masterfully translates their unique character onto canvas. His portfolio showcases the elegance of statuesque greyhounds, the intense focus of pointers with piercing gazes, as well as the majestic silhouettes of herons, geese, and pelicans. Utilizing chiaroscuro with remarkable precision, Rysa brings forth figures full of dignity and tranquility. By combining technical rigor with painterly freedom, he creates portraits that serve as intimate, profound studies of character and spirit.
He is a member of the anonymous artistic collective "Słabe to".
