"Helios – Independent Monthly Magazine for a Nature-Oriented Lifestyle was a naturist magazine published between 1952 and approximately 1965. It was produced in cooperation with the Berlin-based Adolf Koch Institute. From 1949 to 1952, the publication appeared under the title Sonnenstrahl ("Sunbeam").
The magazine primarily focused on nudism and the free body culture movement (Freikörperkultur, FKK), although it also featured articles on other cultural and political topics.
Helios was published by Zitzmann Verlag in Lauf an der Pegnitz, Germany. Editions were also available in Danish, Norwegian, English, French, and Swedish.
The magazine was subject to restrictions under the German Act on the Dissemination of Publications Harmful to Young Persons, which prohibited its sale to minors. In 1971, Helios became the subject of proceedings before the Federal Constitutional Court concerning the constitutionality of that law. The Court subsequently ruled that parts of the legislation were unconstitutional."
