Everything rises. From the dark cobalt blue of the base, the slender stems stretch upward with silent resolve, and the red-orange poppies bloom dense, tactile, charged — then they open, disperse, and the petals take flight. As they rise, the blue lightens, the air becomes lighter, and the red fragments grow ever smaller, ever farther away, until they seem like sparks in the sky. It is a painting about the courage to let go: to bloom, and then — without regret — ascend.
