DESCRIPTION
Statuette birmane en bronze représentant un moine en prière, agenouillé , les mains jointes dans un geste de prière et de dévotion (anjali mudra).
The Burmese bronze statuette depicts a monk in prayer, kneeling, with hands joined in a gesture of prayer and devotion (anjali mudra).
La sculpture présente une belle patine ancienne avec oxydation verte et brune naturelle due à son âge. Fonte artisanale à la cire perdue.
The sculpture features a beautiful old patina with natural green and brown oxidation due to its age. Artisanal lost-wax casting.
La tige sur laquelle la statuette est placée provient du fait qu'elle faisait probablement partie d'une paire d'adorants entourant une statue de Bouddha.
The stem on which the statuette sits comes from the fact that it probably formed part of a pair of adorants surrounding a Buddha statue.
Je la date prudemment du milieu XIXe siècle mais, au vu de la patine "de fouille", elle est certainement plus ancienne.
I date it cautiously to the mid-19th century, but given the surface patina, it is certainly older.
