Description from the seller
DESCRIPTION
1) Popular votive statuette in metal alloy representing a meditating Buddha, head surrounded by a circular halo, Burma, Laos or northern Thailand. Hollow interior artisanal casting. Beautiful patina from use and old corrosion. Circa 19th century, perhaps earlier.
Height 5.1 cm, width 3.2 cm, depth 1.7 cm.
2) Gold-plated bronze statuette depicting a meditating Buddha under the Bodhi tree.
It is a statuette that was placed in the reliquary chambers located beneath the temples. Burma/Myanmar, circa mid-19th century. Lovely old patina.
Height 7.8 cm, width 2.5 cm, depth 1.2 cm.
It is presented on an artisanal wooden base.
3) Bronze votive statuette representing a standing Buddha clothed in draped monastic robes, resting on a stylized lotus-shaped base.
The face with lowered eyes, long ears and the prominent conical ushnisha are characteristic of Theravada Buddhist traditions of Burma, with Shan influence.
Beautiful artisanal lost-wax casting with hollow interior. The surface shows an ancient patina with natural green oxides, coppery reds and coherent accretions with age, traces of gilding.
I prudently date it between the 17th and 19th centuries.
Nice folk work, a statuette that was probably intended for domestic or monastic use.
Height 10.4 cm, width 3.6 cm, depth 3 cm.
CONDITION
Good condition for pieces of this age, beautiful patina, oxidation (see photos)
They will be carefully packed in a professional, traceable shipment.
