Crocodile Nutcracker – attributed to Walter Bosse – Austria – c. 1950–1960

Decorative crocodile-shaped nutcracker, attributed to the Austrian designer Walter Bosse. This type of animal figures is characteristic of the playful mid-century design of the 1950s and 1960s.

The object shows a beautiful dark patina with lighter accents. The jaw works as a nutcracker and closes well.

Probably made in Austria, perhaps in collaboration with a workshop such as Herta Baller.

Unsigned, hence the attribution to Walter Bosse.
