Description from the seller
THE DREAM
Oil painting on canvas on an acrylic base.
The work explores the dimension of sleep as a journey of disassembly and transition of consciousness. On the left, a figure yields to sleep, enveloped in cool tones saturated with blue that evoke introspection and detachment from the sensible world. From this state of abandonment a kind of dreamlike architecture is generated: the perspective space shatters through geometric lines and patches of a vibrant yellow, the shapes invert and decontextualize, and seem not to detach from tangible reality, becoming the emanation itself of the dream, a simulacrum of the body that inhabits a plurality of possible worlds. The observer itself is invited to give a mental form to the absences, filling them through their own perception. The painting presents itself as an open and layered work, an invitation to reflection and to personal interpretation.
Barbara Bartolomei is a professional painter and teacher trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence. Her artistic research moves in a suggestive balance between the mastery of Renaissance traditional techniques deepened at the Sacred Art School of Florence and a conceptual inquiry into visual perception and the philosophy of the image. Through a figurative language, her works explore the subtle boundary between tangible reality and the inner dimension.
NOTE: The painting is finished with a non-toxic final protective varnish, it is dated and signed on the back. An authenticity certificate will nevertheless be sent by e-mail.
Sold without frame: the frame visible in the photo of the painting hung on the wall has been inserted purely for illustrative purposes.
!!!! Extra-EU shipments: for obtaining the documents the timelines are long and may take more than two months!!!!
