Two watercolour paintings by E. Lodi (XX), titled Piramide Cestia e Parco degli Acquedotti, created in Italy in the 1950s, hand-signed, in good condition, each measuring 21 x 19 cm, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Two watercolors show a beautiful view of the Parco degli Acquedotti in Rome, with the majestic ruins of the Claudian Aqueduct dominating the landscape of the Roman countryside. These ruins, dating to the 1st century AD, are an iconic element of the Roman panorama and have been a recurring theme for many painters, especially between the nineteenth and the early twentieth centuries. The bucolic style, with sheep grazing in the foreground and the Alban Hills in the background, is typical of Roman vedutismo of that period. The second painting depicts the Pyramid of Cestius, another famous monument of Rome located near Porta San Paolo. With a frame 43x34.
