Description from the seller
Cacao Van Houten – Rare illustrated advertising postcard "Le meilleur chocolat à consommer liquide" – France – ca. 1900-1910
Interesting and authentic vintage advertising postcard dedicated to the famous Cacao Van Houten, one of the most important companies in the history of cacao and chocolate processing in Europe.
The illustration depicts a rural early 20th-century family scene: a family gathered around the table at breakfast, while they enjoy a Van Houten cocoa–based beverage. The composition conveys the advertising message of the era, aimed at presenting cocoa not as a luxury good, but as a nutritious, affordable food suitable for the whole family.
At the bottom there is indeed the slogan:
"Le Cacao Van Houten n'est pas un aliment de luxe, c'est le meilleur déjeuner économique et nourrissant."
On the verso is a long promotional text in French describing the product’s nutritional qualities, digestibility, and popularity, emphasizing the numerous awards obtained at the major international exhibitions of the time.
The quality of the chromolithography, the excellent overall condition, and the strong historical-documentary impact make this specimen particularly sought after by collectors of food advertising, trade postcards, and Van Houten memorabilia.
