Description from the seller
Jurst & Co. – Silver-Plated Wine Bottle Coaster with Cherry Decoration – Germany – Art Deco Period (c. 1920)
Elegant silver-plated bottle coaster produced by the German silversmith and metalware manufacturer Jurst & Co., Berlin, dating from the Art Deco period, circa 1920.
The coaster features a beautifully pierced and embossed decoration of ripe cherries, leaves and intertwining branches, combining naturalistic Jugendstil influences with the clean and balanced lines characteristic of early Art Deco design. The openwork gallery allows the colour of the bottle to remain visible while creating a striking decorative effect.
Originally intended to hold wine or champagne bottles at the dining table, this piece protected fine table linens from condensation while adding refinement to the table setting. Today it remains both a functional wine accessory and an attractive decorative object.
Condition
Good antique condition with signs of age and use. Some wear to the silver plating, with some copper showing through in places, particularly on the interior base. Please refer carefully to the photographs, which form an integral part of the description.
Dimensions
Height: approx. 7.5 cm
Upper diameter: approx. 9.5 cm
Base diameter: approx. 11 cm
Weight: approx. 180 g
A charming and authentic German silver-plated table accessory, ideal for collectors of Art Deco silverware, wine accessories and decorative metalwork from the early 20th century.
