Description from the seller
Vintage brass and bronze umbrella stand, characterized by artisanal tooled or hammered "bark"-like texture and raised decorative elements.
Main features:
- Material: main cylindrical body in solid brass with ornamental details and side rings for transport made in bronze.
- Production period: This type of European craftsmanship items (often of French, Italian or Dutch origin) dates mainly to the period between the 1950s and the 1970s.
- Style: mid-century design with a rustic and brutalist imprint, commonly used to furnish entryways, antechambers or fireplace areas.
- "Bark" finish: the cylindrical surface is not smooth, but worked with a dense hammered or embossed texture that imitates the natural veins of wood or tree bark. This focus on raw material and expressive texture is a typical feature of Brutalist design from the 1960s and 1970s.
- Marked geometries: the upper decorative bands feature diamond motifs and clean geometric reliefs, which break the object's verticality and create strong light and shadow contrasts on the metal surface.
- Inside the umbrella stand is a plastic water-tray for collecting umbrella moisture.
