Porcelain cache-pot vase in white with blue underglaze Zwiebelmuster, made by KPM Berlin, dating to circa 1800–1850, cylindrical shape with a slightly flared top and two side handles, measures 18.5 × 23 × 17.5 cm, in excellent condition with minor glaze flaws and age-related wear.
Description from the seller
Elegant white porcelain cache-pot vase with blue underglaze decoration Zwiebelmuster ("onion motif"), made by the prestigious manufactory KPM – Königliche Porzellan-Manufaktur Berlin. The decoration, among the most famous in European tradition, draws inspiration from 18th-century Oriental models and is characterized by a refined interweaving of floral elements, stylized leaves, peonies, chrysanthemums and symbolic fruits, arranged in a harmonious and balanced composition.
The vase features a cylindrical shape slightly flared, resting on a low annular foot and enriched by two elegant side handles formed in a volute. The ornamental band running along the upper edge frames the main decoration, executed with great pictorial precision in the typical cobalt blue that characterizes the Zwiebelmuster motif.
Measurements 18.5x23x17.5 cm
Excellent condition, slight firing defects visible in the photograph: brown spots and minimal firing crack.
Probably from the mid-19th century. The legend with the various KPM marks is attached, as reported on the site https://www.kpm-berlin.com/en/blogs/news/the-kpm-stamp-and-its-history
