Description from the seller
Dear Bidders,
Thank you for your interest in my offer.
I'm offering here a curated set of four collectible Rosenthal cups and saucers, specially selected for their striking black-and-white palette and elegant monochrome appearance.
The collection perfectly reflects the experimental postmodern and Op Art aesthetics that made Rosenthal Studio-Line internationally renowned during the 1970s–1990s.
The set includes designs by celebrated international artists and designers: Elsa Fischer-Treyden, Barbara Brenner, Dorothy Hafner and Marcello Morandini. Each piece presents a distinct artistic language — from sculptural geometric forms and optical stripes to bold graphic decoration and minimalist modernism.
Produced mainly between the late 1970s and 1990s, these Studio-Line designs are today highly collectible examples of German postmodern porcelain design. The combination of contrasting black and white tones creates a cohesive visual composition despite the individuality of each designer’s work.
Designers:
Elsa Fischer-Treyden ( no. 4 ) – sculptural modernist design, 1980s
Barbara Brenner ( no. 3 ) – graphic Op Art inspired decoration, 1980s–1990s
Dorothy Hafner ( no. 5 ) – Memphis/Postmodern style, 1980s
Marcello Morandini ( no. 12 ) – iconic geometric Op Art design, 1980s–1990s
