Pair of French cassolettes in gilded and patinated bronze on dark veined marble bases, dating to the Napoleon III period (circa 1850–1870) in Charles X antique style.
Description from the seller
Elegant pair of French cassolettes executed in gilded and dark green patinated bronze, placed on round pedestals of dark veined marble. The design is characteristic of the Charles X style, while the manufacture dates from the Napoleon III period.
Each cassolette rests on three gracefully curved and fluted legs, connected by a decorative ring with laurel ornaments. The detachable lids with flame-shaped finials allow the pieces to be presented both closed and open. In the open state they transform into elegant coupe-shaped decorative vases.
The contrast between the warm gilding, the deep green patina and the dark marble lends the whole a particularly refined appearance. The quality of the casting and the meticulous finish testify to the craftsmanship of French bronze work from the mid-19th century.
Decorative objects that sit exceptionally well within both classical and eclectic interiors.
