Pascolo, oil on canvas by A. Marinelli (Italy), from the second half of the 20th century (circa 1970–1980), sold with frame.
Description from the seller
Fascinating and grand oil painting on canvas titled "Pascolo" (Pasture), by the Italian painter A. Marinelli, active in the second half of the 20th century and specialized in rural and bucolic genre painting.
The scene, of exquisitely rural flavor, depicts a shepherdess in traditional attire leading a light-colored cow and a small calf along a country path. In the background unfolds a suggestive lake- or river-scape dominated by mountains that fade in the distance under a dynamic sky. The painting technique is characterized by a textural, vibrant brushwork rich in light, heir to the best late-19th-century Italian figurative tradition.
The work is presented within a splendid and imposing contemporaneous gold wooden frame, which enhances its importance and makes it ready to hang.
Details and Certification:
On the back of the canvas there is the original paper Certificate of Provenance and Authenticity, bearing the title (Pascolo), the author’s signature (A. Marinelli), the dimensions of the canvas, and an old valuation of the era of 800,000 Lire. The certificate refers to the law of 17-12-1971 (Official Gazette no. 318), attesting the creation of the work at the "Palazzetto dell'Arte".
The work is signed in red by the author in the lower right.
