Description from the seller
Extraordinary and very rare libretto of Giuseppe Verdi's opera Aida, one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of music and world opera.
This is the first Italian edition from 1872, published on the eve of the historic Italian premiere of the opera, staged at La Scala in Milan after the famous absolute debut of 1871. An exceptionally interesting document of historical, musical, and collectible significance.
The text is by Antonio Ghislanzoni, the librettist who collaborated with Verdi in the realization of what would become one of the most famous and performed titles in the international operatic repertoire.
The original librettos of Aida from the early period are today extremely difficult to find on the market, especially complete and preserved in autonomous form. This exemplar represents a direct testimony to the birth of an opera destined to enter legend.
Object of great interest for Verdian collectors, opera history, musical theater, old books, and La Scala memorabilia.
The publication bears the imprint of the publishing house Floreal Liberty of Milan, an element that contributes to the historical charm of the specimen and to its bibliographic authenticity.
The natural traces of time, compatible with the age of the work, only underscore its authentic character and documentary value.
An absolutely prestigious piece, hardly available, destined for the most demanding collectors of Verdian works and nineteenth-century theatrical materials.
Conditions:
Conditions in keeping with the age (over 150 years). Shows signs of time, some stains as visible in the photos. Authentic patina that confirms its era and its historicity.
Authentic item, not a modern reprint.
Verdi was one of the greatest composers, like Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Sebastian Bach, Franz Schubert, Fryderyk Chopin, Franz Joseph Haydn, Giuseppe Verdi, Georg Friedrich Händel, Johannes Brahms, Gioachino Rossini, Antonio Vivaldi Robert Schumann, Richard Wagner, Igor Stravinsky, Igor Stravinsky Čajkovskij, Ennio Morricone, Gustav Mahler, Niccolò Paganini, Richard Strauss, amilcare Ponchielli, Giacomo Puccini, Pietro Mascagni, Gaetano Donizetti, Giacomo Puccini.
