Description from the seller
White porcelain statuette by Karl Tutter for Hutschenreuther
Rare white glazed porcelain statuette modeled by Karl Tutter for the prestigious German manufactory Hutschenreuther, among the most famous interpreters of porcelain sculpture in the 20th century.
The work depicts a cherub with a sweet, infantile expression while holding two hares, in a composition of great tenderness and naturalness that highlights the artist's sensibility.
The figure is rendered with extraordinary plastic softness: the curls of the hair, the harmonious proportions of the infant body, and the slightly inclined pose give movement and spontaneity to the whole.
The brilliant white porcelain, free of polychrome decorations, enhances the purity of the forms and the quality of the modelling, distinctive features of Hutschenreuther production. The naturalistic base, enriched with stylized botanical elements and finished with an elegant gilded filet, completes the composition with balance and refinement.
This sculpture represents an excellent example of Karl Tutter’s production, an artist known for his infant figures and for scenes inspired by the natural world, today particularly appreciated by European porcelain collectors of the 20th century.
Perfect condition.
