Clavius Christophori: Epitome of Practical Arithmetic Now Again Recognized by the Author Himself. Rome, from the Printing Office of Dominicus Basae, 1585. In 16°, contemporary parchment, pp. 324, (12), with many mathematical woodcut figures in the text. The original edition extremely rare, of this work which explains all the didactic material of arithmetic. Christopher Clavius was an eminent scientist, astronomer and mathematician, also known for his active participation in the compilation of the Gregorian Calendar. A copy with a slight stain on the first leaves, tears with no textual loss at the outer lower margin of the last three leaves, but overall a good specimen.
