Description from the seller
Fascinating and powerful oil on canvas work by the renowned contemporary master Antonio Sciacca, titled "Momento Eterno" and dated 2016.
The painting magistrally fits within the classic Memento Mori and Vanitas theme, reinterpreted with the artist's extraordinary color sensitivity and unmistakable stylistic signature. The work depicts two skeletal figures reclining, dressed in sumptuous ecclesiastical and ceremonial garments in vivid colors (deep purple, antique pink, gold, and finely decorated details). The contrast between the drama of death and the opulence of the vestments creates a hypnotic visual tension, typical of the artist's existential reflections on time, the transience of life, and the eternity of art.
The use of light, the tactile layering of color (especially evident in the details of the headpieces and robes), and the ethereal neutral-toned background give the figures a strong three-dimensionality and a nearly sculptural solemnity.
