Description from the seller
Fascinating and substantial complete table service with a serving salad bowl, made in strong commercial high-resistance stoneware called Diamondstone, produced by the historic Laveno facility (at the time part of the Richard Ginori group).
The design of the service evokes a exquisitely bucolic and romantic aesthetic. Each piece is characterized by an important raised continuous relief rich in volutes, tendrils and rococo floral motifs pressed into the ceramic. At the center of the composition stands a luminous bouquet of multicolored cut flowers, dominated by vivid shades of purple roses, yellow calendulas and small indigo petals.
A visually striking set, perfect for lovers of Shabby Chic, Country Chic table settings or for arrangements with a vintage and retro taste.
The service consists of:
* 10 flat plates 25.5ø
* 12 bowls / soup plates 24.5ø
* 10 dessert / fruit plates 21ø
* 1 Large Salad Bowl / Deep serving cup, entirely relief-worked on the outer body 24ø
BRAND HISTORY: S.C.I. LAVENO – DIAMONDSTONE
Founded in 1856 in Laveno Mombello on the shores of Lake Maggiore, the Italian Ceramic Society (S.C.I.) was one of the largest and most revolutionary Italian ceramic manufacturers, famous for the quality of its earthenwares and for the artistic direction of masters such as Guido Andloviz. In 1965 S.C.I. merged with Richard Ginori.
The mark impressed in green underglaze "Diamondstone - RG - Laveno - Since 1856 - Italy - Made in Italy" attests to the production of this lot around the mid-1960s. The "Diamondstone" was a patented mark to guarantee a ceramic body particularly robust, compact and durable over time, designed for daily use of high-end.
STATE OF CONSERVATION
The service presents in good vintage condition, carrying the typical charm of period ceramics.
* Structural Integrity: All pieces are structurally sound. No chipping on rims, cracks, crazing or previous restorations on any of the plates nor on the large salad bowl.
* Craquelure (Crazing): Widespread and natural craquelure (micro-crazing of the glaze) is present on both the front surface and the back of the pieces. This is a completely normal phenomenon for the sturdy earthenware of this era, which does not compromise the plate's solidity but testifies to its historic authenticity and vintage character.
* Colors: The central floral decoration remains vivid, glossy and well-defined across the whole set.
PROFESSIONAL PACKING AND TRACKED SHIPMENT
Given the considerable overall weight of the stoneware and the number of pieces, the shipment will receive maximum security:
*v Protection: Each plate will be individually wrapped in bubble wrap and the stacks will be separated by inserts of polystyrene or cushioning cardboard.
* Service: Shipment via internationally trackable express courier.
