Description from the seller
Rare Vintage Wooden Tabletop Multi-Game Compendium – Chess, Checkers & Dominoes – Showcase Cabinet Design – Mid-20th Century
Description:
Elegant and compact vintage tabletop multi-game compendium, beautifully crafted from wood with an ingenious multi-tier storage design. This set features a unique aesthetic: the upper section is built as a display cabinet with a hinged glass front (as shown closed in IMG_5184.jpg), showcasing the full set of wooden chess pieces neatly arranged on two interior display shelves.
The compendium includes three timeless classic games:
Chess: Complete set of finely turned wooden chessmen (simplified Staunton style) in natural and black finishes.
Checkers / Draughts: Complete set for classic checkers, including 27 turned wooden pieces (13 white and 14 black, providing handy spare pieces beyond the standard 12 per color).
Dominoes: Complete "Double 6" dominoes set, neatly stored in the dedicated compartments of the lower pull-out drawer.
A wonderful lot for board game enthusiasts and collectors alike, as well as a sophisticated decorative piece for a study, living room, or library.
Dimensions of the cabinet when closed (See IMG_5184.jpg):
Height: 20 cm
Width: 25 cm
Depth: 15 cm
Condition:
The set is in good vintage condition. It is structurally sound and fully complete with all game pieces. Regarding cosmetics, there are two specific flaws due to age and wear (clearly visible in photos IMG_5180.jpg and IMG_5184.jpg):
The small original knobs to open the lower drawer (which contains the checkers and domino pieces) are missing.
Approximately 4 cm of the white bakelite decorative trim is missing from the edge of the top lid (left corner).
The drawer and hinges remain accessible and operational. The wood features a lovely warm patina. Please review the provided photos carefully as they are an integral part of this condition report.
