Sergio Molino is an indispensable name in the Piedmont wine world and beyond; he is the winemaker for many wineries in Piedmont and even in France. His expertise and passion for winemaking have led him to bottle wines from his 2.5-hectare estate located on the Bricco Rocca cru in La Morra, a family property for generations. Under the name E. Molino (the E honoring his father, also named Ernesto), Sergio produces about 6,000 bottles per year, divided among Barbera Superiore, Nebbiolo and Barolo, and, in prosperous years, a Barolo Riserva.
Sergio approaches winemaking with an almost obsessive passion, striving to understand and, if possible, to master every aspect of the terroir and the cellar. It is no accident that, next to his Annunziata vineyard, located precisely between Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and La Morra on the Bricco Rocca cru, there is a laboratory where he studies and cultivates bacteria and enzymes.
His ultimate goal is to transmit all the intrinsic characteristics of the grape into the glass and to lose as little quality as possible during the winemaking and aging phases.
