This painting offers a contemporary reinterpretation of the mythological meeting between Perseus and Medusa, transforming a story of violence into a moment of tension, humanity and unexpected connection.
Rather than representing fear, the scene captures a moment of hesitation: Perseus, about to fulfill his destiny, is disarmed by Medusa’s presence. Their gazes meet and, instead of destruction, a fragile feeling of empathy emerges.
The mirror beside Medusa plays a central symbolic role. Traditionally used by Perseus to avoid her gaze, it becomes here the reflection of a lost beauty, of awareness and vulnerability — a silent witness to what has been taken from her and what still remains.
Created in acrylic, with rich textures and strong color contrasts, the work blends classical inspiration with a contemporary figurative approach, exploring themes such as desire, identity and the ambiguity between heroism and compassion.
The rich textures of acrylic, vivid colors and expressive details bring the scene to life, offering a modern and emotional reading of a timeless myth.
