AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

València is in fashion. 2026
Mixed media on wood
90 × 90 cm

Description of the artwork
In "València is in fashion," Jesús Poveda builds an ironic reflection on the contemporary transformation of the city into an object of desire, cultural brand, and visual product. Through the representation of two of its most identificatory symbols of the city—the Fallera and the barraca—architecture and identity intertwine; the work explores, from a critical perspective, through a review of some of the avant-garde movements of the 20th century, in a language that is itself contemporary, how certain territories are sometimes turned into stages for symbolic consumption and media projection.
The painting-dialogues with the aesthetics of graphic design, illustration, and postdigital visual culture, incorporating visual resources that reveal how our perception of places is increasingly mediated by images. In this context, the apparent serenity of the composition hides a reflection on the cultural and social changes of the city.

About the Artist
Jesús Poveda is a Spanish visual artist who lives and produces from his workshop in Valencia. After a solid career of more than fifteen years as a professional graphic designer, his university training fueled a deep interest in contemporary art and visual thought. Around 2011 he began to materialize his first works and exhibition projects.

His artistic production sits at the exact intersection between the analog and the digital. Poveda articulates the pictorial practice by combining traditional methodologies and procedures of the trade with methodological processes derived from graphic design.
Currently, his investigations develop through pictorial series where the canvas is conceived from visual thought. This approach endows his works with a symbolic, magnetic, and recognizable language, asserting the painter’s craft as an act of resistance and deceleration in the face of the contemporary excess of digital stimulation.

Since 2015, his work has been exhibited in various solo and group shows within culturally relevant spaces, with a special focus on contexts linked to contemporary art and sustainability. In recent years, his career has experienced notable consolidation and professionalization.

For the buyer:
Exclusive and original piece, ideal to elevate any space and be part of a collection with its own personality. The starting price does not reflect its true artistic or decorative value.
