Stilux Milano three-light adjustable floor lamp in steel and black-painted aluminium, mid-century modern, 170 cm high, 25 cm wide, 34 cm deep, made in Italy, in excellent condition with minor age-related wear and restored to full working order.
Description from the seller
Rigore Milanese: Adjustable Three-Head Floor Lamp with Rotatable Diffusers – Stilux Milano Production (1960s)
We present at auction an elegant and functional testament to mid-century Italian modernity: the three-light floor lamp produced by the historic Milanese brand Stilux. This model, characterized by an extremely slender silhouette and independently adjustable diffusers, perfectly embodies the balance between technical experimentation and sophisticated domestic presence typical of the 1960s.
Design and History: The Balance of Dynamic Light
The project stands out for its formal purity that enhances the exceptional craftsmanship of Milanese making:
Lighting Flexibility: The true strength of this floor lamp lies in its three rotatable diffusers. Moving entirely autonomously along the vertical axis and at the socket, they allow combining in the same room direct reading light, accent lighting, and diffused light reflected toward the ceiling.
Structural Minimalism: The vertical stem acts as a pure geometric axis, minimizing the visual impact in space to let the reflections of metal and the rotatable domes take center stage.
Cultured Functionality: In perfect harmony with Stilux philosophy, every technical element—from the joint to the locking mechanism—is integrated into the overall design, transforming a daily-use object into a linear sculpture of great formal rigor.
Lot Conditions: Conservation State and Integrity
- The piece on offer is completely original and, following careful restoration, presents itself in excellent working condition with only minor signs of age:
- Metals and Surfaces: The structure, combining satin-finished metal and black-painted aluminum, is solid, stable, and robust.
- Restoration: The floor lamp has been completely disassembled, cleaned, polished, and totally rewired in the electrical parts.
- Mechanics and Function: The joints and orientation systems of the three diffusers are fluid and stable in the chosen position. The floor lamp is ready to be placed in an environment.
- Authenticity: An original adhesive label from Stilux is still present inside one of the domes.
Dimensions
Height: 170 cm
Width: 25 cm
Depth: 34 cm
The Manufacturer: Stilux Milano
Founded in Milan in the 1950s, Stilux represents one of the most interesting and sought-after realities in Italian avant-garde lighting design. During the 1960s, thanks to close collaboration with architects and designers from the Milanese school, the company managed to evolve decorative lighting toward international modernism. Stilux creations are famous among collectors for the very high quality of galvanic finishes, the skillful use of colour and paired metals, and for an almost engineering precision in functional detail.
