Inuit Soapstone Sculpture – Authentic Canadian Art with "Igloo Tag" NS17Description:
Splendid vintage sculpture of Inuit native art, entirely hand-carved from Canadian soapstone.
The piece stands out for its natural grain and color variations that range from sage green to earth brown.
Authenticity Guaranteed: On the back there is the official "Igloo Tag" label (license code NS17), the hallmark of excellence established by the Canadian government in 1958 to certify and protect genuine handmade artworks created by the Arctic Inuit peoples.
Back details: It also features the original paper label with the inventory/catalog number written by hand (Carving No. 8415 / 563), essential for the piece’s traceability.
Material: Authentic soapstone.
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, with patina and the typical signs of artisanal craftsmanship that attest to its age. No structural cracks or obvious restorations are evident.
The incised signature on the base of the soapstone sculpture belongs to Iziasie Kopalie (also written Iziassie Kopalie or Kopaulak), a well-known Canadian Inuit artist and sculptor born in 1948
